About Me
I am a doctoral candidate at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the Unviersity of Utah. I work in John Horel's research group, and my main focus of expertise is in data assimilation.
I'm interested in all types of data assimilation, but am currently focusing on time independent data assimilation (2DVar and 3DVar) methodologies for my doctoral research. I am currently investigating strong and weak constraints on surface analyses over an Austrian domain using the gridded background and observation data set used by Austria's Integrated Nowcasting through Comprehensive Analysis system.
In addition to my research, I also enjoy teaching. I co-taught an introductory meteorology course called Severe and Unusual Weather during the Fall 2008 semester with John Horel. Unfortunately, the recent state budget situation has prevented me from gaining additional teaching experience, but I have managed to stay active in teaching by teaching Sunday School at my church to students in grades 3-6 as well as helping out in an after school reading program called the Open Door, which helps students ages 4-16.
